Pilar LaFuente graduated in Veterinary Medicine with an Extraordinary Degree from the University of Zaragoza in 1998. She completed a PhD on bone growth in dogs at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Pilar pursued further training in the United States with a rotating internship at the University of Florida and a small animal surgery residency at the Washington State University.
In 2009, Pilar achieved board certification as a surgeon from both the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS). She also obtained a certificate in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy and became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Currently, Pilar teaches orthopedic surgery in small animals and has contributed to the development of the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation service at the Royal Veterinary College in London. Her research interests include arthroscopy, tendinopathies, regenerative medicine, sports medicine, and rehabilitation. Pilar's dedication to research, teaching, and advancements in veterinary care continues to make a significant impact on the veterinary community.
